Jean-Pierre Nicol rounds off the season with a victory!
Sep 30th
It was with glorious sunshine and a deserved victory – the first of the circuit for Jean-Pierre Nicol – that the Quiberon Solo drew to a close today and with it the Figaro Bénéteau season 2011. Largely dominating the only race contested this Friday – a long 20-mile coastal course – the skipper of Bernard Controls was finally able to show what he’s made of on the race zone, treating himself to the luxury of a happy ending. Twelfth in the French Solo Offshore Racing Championship standing (prior to validation by the French Sailing Federation), the sailor has progressed in More >
Shortened day
Sep 29th
Just a single race was on the programme for today’s point-scoring mission in the final event of the French Solo Offshore Racing Championship in Quiberon. Indeed a wind strength of force 2 to 3 enabled the solo sailors to compete in just one 10 mile coastal course, which mirrored the inaugural race for this event. 22nd at the finish, Jean-Pierre Nicol had hoped to change the tone of today’s racing through a series of windward-leeward courses later in the day. However, he hadn’t banked on a misty episode barging its way into the bay, urging the organiser to send everyone More >

Suffering from flu for several days, Jean-Pierre Nicol had mixed results this morning, with a range of performances. 23rd in the first race and 3rd in the second, he’s now positioned 19th in the overall standing prior to the jury’s decision. On his return to the dock in Port Haliguen, the skipper More >
An Indian Summer puts a new light on things
Sep 27th
Though the weather is drawing out the summer to the great delight of landlubbers far and wide, it certainly isn’t what the sailors need in Brittany. Indeed, the start of today’s headlining Quiberon Solo race, initially scheduled to set off at 1500 hours, was a long time in coming, ultimately being cancelled for Jean-Pierre Nicol and his rivals, due to lack of wind. Furthermore, back alongside in Port Haliguen, the skipper of Bernard Controls was told that the whole of the rest of the programme was to be reshuffled by the organisers. In fact, the final of the French Solo More >
